Jason Ward brings extensive and well-rounded expertise and design knowledge to studio b.Working in the offices of highly recognized firms in the United States and Canada, he has developed an adept ability to solve architectural problems through a capacity to simultaneously focus on broad, conceptual issues as well as complex details related to all aspects of design and construction. He has lived and traveled extensively both domestically and abroad acquiring a wide range of knowledge of regional building practices and cultural traditions. In addition to practice, Jason has held teaching positions as a professor of architecture at universities including the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and Washington University in Saint Louis. His experience of teaching and practicing in such wide-ranging locales has established a level of cultural sensitivity necessary for a critical approach to design methodology and building practices within a given geographical and cultural context. His design talent insures a comprehensive approach to the creative process of making contextually “quiet” buildings that belie their highly modern character.

After graduating with a professional degree in architecture from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he is originally from, Jason moved to Boston and worked for almost a decade on both high-end residential projects as well as commercial and institutional commissions in the New England region.During this time, he was a visiting scholar at the American Academy in Rome and earned a master’s degree in architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.Following his graduate work, Jason has had critical roles in designing large, complex projects for both institutional and residential clients while balancing teaching opportunities with practice. His professional experience has allowed him intimate involvement with executing construction projects of varying scales and complexities while working closely with clients and the various design consultants to achieve only the highest quality outcome for an owner’s project.
